The name

About the name

Asitane takes its name from âsitâne, a Persian-origin word used in Ottoman Turkish for a threshold. It was also a historical name for Istanbul.

For the press, the name expresses an interest in what it means to stand at the edge of a new era: what we carry forward, what we question, and how we choose to proceed.

The flowing channel in our mark evokes the Bosphorus and the idea of passage.

How to say it

Asitane is approximately pronounced ah-see-tah-neh, in four syllables. The final e is sounded.
